Before establishing herself as an intercultural leadership coach and instructional designer, Wieke Gur was known in Indonesia as an award-winning songwriter—earning national recognition through the Festival Lagu Populer Indonesia (FLPI), or Indonesian Popular Song Festival and World Popular Song Competition/Festival in Japan, Singapore, KL and Chile.
From 1985 to 1989, her original compositions received accolades at FLPI, a prestigious annual event that launched the careers of many prominent Indonesian musicians and composers. Her song lyrics stood out for their emotional depth and lyrical clarity —blending universal themes of love, longing, and human connection with uniquely Indonesian poetic sensibilities.
